Yarava Music Group
“Yarava Music Group” was founded in 2001 by Mehdi Jalali, Ebrahim Allahyari, and Hamed Zand Karimkhani with the purpose of introducing an alternative style of traditional music and promoting instrumental music or a non-vocal-based genre of music. Since 2003 and after the formation of “Yarava Modern Orchestra” through Alireza Mashayekhi’s suggestion, this group has started its artistic activities with the objectives of performing and introducing works of Modern (Contemporary) Music composers of Iran and the world, as well as introducing the New Music instrumentalists.
Since 2003 up to now, this group has held more than 100 educative/performative/research-based sessions in addition to its other activities; these sessions were held under the title of “Khalvat-e-Mousighi” (Music Privacy), “IC” (Informal Concert), “Opera Night”, “Sundays of Music”, “Music Privacy 37.5 Degrees”, “Outside the Box” etc.
By running a series of programs called “Persian Night” since 2008, Yarava has concentrated on performing the pieces of Iranian contemporary composers, performing over 60 pieces till today.
Yarava has performed more than 180 music pieces of different genres over the years of its activity; besides, the compositions of more than 40 Iranian contemporary composers had their world premiere through Yarava Music Group, some of which are published and released.
Over the past few years, some of the most important activities of the group includes holding the Electroacoustic Music Composition Competition “Reza Korourian Awards”, the Contemporary Music Festival “Sound.Tehran.Music”, “Tehran International Electronic Music Festival” and the musical projects “Sound Fabric”, “Tehran – Berlin Travelers”, “Tehran Contemporary Music Days”. These kinds of activities have led to a collaboration and alliance between Yarava Music Group, Tehran University, Tehran University of Art, Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, Department of Music Studies, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Digital Media Center, Multimedia Production Lab of Luigi Cherubini Conservatory, Freiburg University of Music and New York University, the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart.

Reza Korourian Awards (2021)
The Electroacoustic Composition Competition is held annually in the memory of Iranian avant-garde composer, “Reza Korourian” (1971-2015). This competition invites composers of all ages, who are interested in electronic music, to participate in the competition in order to support and introduce electroacoustic music in Iran.
The sixth year of Reza Korourian Awards was held by “Yarava Music Group” in collaboration with the Department of Music of Tehran University, the Faculty of Music of the Tehran University of Art and sponsored by Korourian’s family.
