Fatigue

“Fatigue” it’s an acousmatic composition about Brain Fog. It’s a flux of audio information that desperately tries to condensate itself into a coherent meaning but simply can not. Sounds are treated as Brain Fog thoughts so are heavily fragmented in nature and iterative. It’s a piece based on abrupt interruptions, unexpected change in sound material, chaotic motion in space, and condensation/coalescence of thematic ideas. The listener can be overwhelmed by this audio flux or he can practice a sort of meditation to experience the passing of this stream as an external observer.

Luca Mucci

21-22

The name of this composition derives from the period in which it was composed, that is the days between 2021 and 2022, in a state of isolation of 2 weeks due to Covid.
This long wait gave me the time and concentration to compose a soundscape that looked inside me, expressing through sounds the emotions of these last two years that have put the whole world in difficulty.
The sound material is mainly of concrete origin, with sounds of nature (storm, sea), household sounds (gas and water drops), electronically manipulated, often with granular resynthesize.

Giovanni Raschellà

Biography

Born in Florence in 1997, he began to show interest in music from an early age, he studied guitar and singing. In 2020 he obtained a degree in Electronic Music at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence, under the guidance of Alfonso Belfiore, Roberto Neri and Marco Ligabue. He has participated in several editions of the “Diffrazioni” and “Il Corpo la Luce e il Suono” festivals. In 2019 he was selected for the "Florence to New York project" initiative, collaborating with Esther Lamneck at New York University. In his compositions he prefers the use of concrete sounds recorded by him, processed electronically.

Silence of the Universe

In March 2021, NASA conducted a study about the sounds of the universe. I started from the idea that we are surrounded by sounds and noises that delineate the space around us. We are unable to perceive even though they are always with us. I have collected a group of sounds to create an “acoustic space”. To describe our presence. I decided to record my heartbeat. On a visual level I designed two/three-dimensional spaces in continuous change that could give a place to the sounds that follow one another in the project. I want to represent an “unknown” space described by sounds that we do not perceive but in which we find our self.

Anna Boso

Theseus (The Mighty Mouse)

Theseus is a robotic mouse programmed for the resolution of mazes, one of the first example of machine learning. Built in 1950 by mathematician and researcher Claude Shannon, it marks the beginning of a new era.
This work is inspired by the path of various ecological Theseus in a metropolis of the future, through traffic, architectural barriers, and other obstacles.
Theseus are therefore constantly in danger, risking being crushed by a car or being targeted by particularly lively kids, but thanks to their “digital” ability they are always able to face the adversity and to find an alternative way.

Giacomo Aiolli

Tempo Bastante

A vision from the anguish of Giacomo Guerrini
The work is the result of distressing thoughts that have characterized this traumatic period of humanity.
The path of work is an uncontrolled race towards madness driven by chaos and the unnatural frenzy to which life subjects us by taking away the illusion of control over it.

Giacomo Guerrini

Il ciclo dell’azoto – The nitrogen cycle

The nitrogen cycle is a process by which nitrogen moves mainly between the atmosphere, the ground and living things. This cycle is defined as gaseous because the reserve pool, that is the reservoir of this chemical element, is precisely the atmosphere. this biogeochemical process involves many living beings and is indispensable for human life. The composition wants to represent the cycle through the morphing of concrete sounds with synthetic ones. bacteria, atmospheric events, microorganisms, animals and plants are part of the compositional path that ends in a structural cycle of sounds.

Jacopo Paolini

Thanks to nature and his aesthetics, Jacopo finds timbral and structural inspirations to write music.

FWAH

The four natural elements find their common denominator in noise, in our experience this aspect fades into the background in favor of their meaning. According to the philosopher Empedocles, all things are governed by the tension between love and strife that dominate at alternating times, shaking the elements of which they are composed. The cycle of cosmic forces where destruction and generating force are confused, is made by the sounds of natural elements that bind and break up in the continuous flow of low-frequency noise that composes them. The object of research is chaos understood as the noise that accompanies the four elements.

Il Canto Del Pane

“Il Canto del Pane” is an acousmatic composition that aims to evoke an inner world that arises from the common experience of baking, an ancient rite that unites peoples. Kneading, molding, baking, cooking control and finally cutting; all the sound material is recorded live and in a single session. The title comes from what bakers say, when bread is cooling before taste it; they say it sings, in fact bread makes nice creaks and crackles due to the sudden exchange of heat and evaporation. Effects and treatments are derived through analysis and resynthesize processes; the composition is made entirely with Csound.

Parole

The composition “Parole” is developed exclusively through the use of the voice. For its realization, a voice was sampled which pronounced exclusively the word: “Parole” that means “Words”Through the use of different types of synthesis and among the most used the granular synthesis, a destructuring of the voice takes place which makes it almost incomprehensible. The voice is not only used to create a sound texture; it is also used in the rhythmic parts; with a rapid decay I leaved the pronunciation of the letter “P” in evidence. The track thus created is a synthesis and mixture of electronic music and vocal processing

Les Dahlias noirs

This acousmatic piece is about feminicides and violence against women. It evokes the sad but famous case of the murder of Elizabeth Short, the Black Dahlia, in Los Angeles in 1947. The identity of the murderer has never been determined but many hypotheses have been made. As the case grew more and more notorious, many men claimed responsibility.
In a society where violence against women has long been trivialized and unsanctioned even today, this work aims to illustrate violence as a gear synonymous of death, tension, false appearances. Drops of white noise run through the composition and represent each feminicides occurred in 2019.

Rinascita

Noise Change

Noise Change is an electro-acoustic piece of music that wants to represent the continuous evolution of sound and its state. The inspiration behind this piece came from the observation that our society is constantly subjected to strong noise pollution, which has damaging effects on the human body, with extreme consequences of nervous and anxiety diseases.
I wanted to keep a sound flow that reminded me of the constant urban noise so that the listener could immerse himself in this sound experience.

Finirà

With this work. I wanted to send a message and so I decided to work on my project using the subject of “Terrorism” which I’ve always been interested in. The word terrorism usually scares us and reminds us of cruelty actions we have seen too often in TV during the past years, but in this case I wanted to make people actually feel like experiencing those moments. My piece tries to analyze, through electroacoustic music, most of the events connected to terrorist attacks that took place around Europe in the past 10 years or so. In the work are present recorded sounds by me and synthesized sounds from coding and sampling software.

Trilogy of the elements

The trilogy of the elements is an audiovisual composition in three movements.
The last of a two-year study on concrete sound and its use for narrative, this composition looks at the production of concrete sound without human interference, leaving the elements to take charge and letting them slowly overcome every presence until there is nothing left in the scene.
Both musically and visually there is a game of rising and falling, the bottle flies, then falls, the water drops low but the splash evaporates high, always crossing a stable horizontal line of a surreal landscape.
